Caterpillar Inc. has made an addition to the company’s line of Tier 4 Final rental power solutions with the introduction of the Cat XQ125 mobile diesel generator set. Rated at 125 kVA for prime operation, the new product meets Tier 4 Final emission standards while improving fuel efficiency and optimizing productivity over the previous Tier 4 interim package for rental operations in the United States and Canada.
“This new model provides our customers with another option for accessing the right power at the right time,” said Marina Waters, engineering manager with Caterpillar’s Global Power Solutions Division. “The XQ125 has better power density than competitive packages, reducing installation footprint while delivering more reliable, clean power.
Equipped with the sophisticated CatConnect platform, the new Cat XQ mobile diesel generator sets combine equipment, technology and services to build customer success. Cat Connect allows the dealer to remotely monitor multiple generator set parameters such as run hours and fuel consumption, through easy-to-use analysis tools. The timely information allows customers to control costs, improve performance and reduce risks.
Complementing the advanced monitoring offering, the Cat XQ125 features the easy to use EMCP 4.2B control panel providing power metering and protective relaying along with engine and generator control and monitoring. The EMCP 4.2B is embedded with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) functionality, which enables the generator set to monitor and control other equipment within the operation. Each EMCP4.2B includes inputs to collect supplementary data for the PLC to process when operating the generator set and activating external equipment. On a remote location without the ability to supply power to the battery charger, the PLC would likewise monitor the battery voltage to start and stop the machine to preserve battery ensuring the unit is ready to run when needed.
In addition, the Cat XQ125 is powered by a C 4.4 ACERT industrial diesel engine offering the perfect balance of durability, efficiency and low emissions. With advanced research and development techniques, the aftertreatment system is precisely matched to the engine ensuring performance is optimized for maximum productivity.
A robust, rental-ready construction allows for easy and efficient transportation around project sites, while a galvanized enclosure protects the XQ125 from potentially harsh environments.
Capable of 500-hour oil change intervals, the XQ125 features increased uptime, lower maintenance costs and consumes fewer parts and oil making it friendlier for the environment.
